This module is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of network security concepts and technologies. It aims to delve into the intricacies of how networks are protected through various security measures. Students will gain knowledge of the OSI reference model, examining the security considerations at each layer. The module covers network-based attacks and provides insights into effective countermeasures. Key topics include network security basics, the role of network protocols like TCP/IP, and the importance of physical and logical security measures such as firewalls and network partitioning. The curriculum also explores advanced network security technologies, including firewalls, Unified Threat Management (UTM), intrusion detection and prevention systems, and secure communication protocols such as HTTPS/SSL/TLS and SSH. Additionally, the module addresses wireless security, user authentication, access management, and best practices for maintaining a secure network environment. Students will be introduced to secure network architecture and the role of IoT communication in network security. By the end of this module, students will be proficient in identifying network threats, implementing security measures, and understanding the latest advancements in network security technologies.
