This module is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to identify and address potential disasters that could disrupt critical organizational activities at various levels—strategic, tactical, and operational. Through the course, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Organizational Resilience, including the core principles and concepts essential for developing effective strategies to maintain business operations during and after disruptions. Key topics include Business Impact Analysis (BIA), different types of plans for business continuity and disaster recovery, and strategies for threat mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Students will explore various plans such as Emergency Response Plans (ERP), Incident Management Plans (IMP), Business Continuity Plans (BCP), and Crisis Management Plans (CMP), with practical examples including Pandemic Plans and IT Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP). The module also covers high availability solutions, service delivery objectives, and the validation of plans through auditing and exercises, alongside an overview of ISO 22301 standards. By the end of the module, students will be able to explain BCM principles, conduct BIA, and implement and manage different continuity and recovery plans effectively.
